Message from Dean Cockett

Agriculture is “the science of life”
Welcome to the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences where you can be part of a diverse community of scholars. Agriculture is the essence of applied science. Here you can investigate the climate, economics, nutrition, technology, plant and soil science, education and many other subjects that shape the world.
Make a difference. Learn to link knowledge of soil, water, plants and animals to human health with hands-on experience and a close connection to research faculty. Our students are learning to clone animals, create new good products, manage commodity markets, understand the technology that ensures safe and productive food supply and how to become future leaders in the political process.
Be part of the global economy. Most of our faculty has national and international experience that helps them bring a global perspective to your classes. You can do research at both the graduate and undergraduate level in labs and in the field.
We can help. There are more than 100 scholarships available for our students. Also students have jobs in research and outreach programs during the school year; working summer internships in Washington D.C. with U.S. legislators; and pursuing study-abroad opportunities from Korea to the United Kingdom.
Grow with us. The College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences has recently moved into the new Ag building on the east side of the university’s historic quad.
Most of what you need to know can be found on this web site, but we encourage you to schedule a face-to-face appointment with our academic advisors or current students.
Again, welcome to the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences.
Sincerely,
Noelle Cockett
