Collegiate FFA:

Collegiate FFA is the service arm to the National FFA Organization.  USU Collegiate FFA members serve the agricultural industry, the agricultural education profession and the FFA at the local, state, and national levels.  For further information contact Rudy Tarpley, (435) 797-2240, Rudy.Tarpley@usu.edu

ATA:

Alpha Tau Alpha is an honorary agricultural education organization open to agricultural education majors at or above the sophomore level. Ag Tech Club:

Ag Tech Club members are generally agricultural machinery or agricultural systems technology majors at USU.  Students participate in activities designed to develop skills and knowledge specific to agricultural systems technology.  For further information contact Royce Hatch, (435) 797-1928, Royce.Hatch@usu.edu.

Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow (ACT)

ACT is the professional organization for students majoring in Agricultural Communication and Journalism.  While membership is open to all USU students, goals and activities are designed to prepare graduates in careers relating to agricultural public relations, broadcast journalism, and print journalism.  Activities include professional development designed to cultivate the skills and knowledge necessary for success in the profession.  Development activities also seek to build relationships between USU students and communicators involved in the profession.  ACT also seeks to provide social activities designed allow Agricultural Communication and Journalism majors to nurture life-long professional relationships.  For further information contact Rudy Tarpley, (435) 797-2240, Rudy.Tarpley@usu.edu

Plant, Soils & Climate Club:

This club provides a means for students to meet together, build relationships, and participate in worthwhile projects. Fund raising projects include the production and sale of plants and flowers along with opportunities to participate in service activities. The funds received from these projects are used to finance student competitions and trips in areas of interest throughout the western United States. Soils Judging Team:

The Soil Judging Team is comprised of students from the PSC department, as well as other departments, who have shown a desire to be affiliated with the team. Dr. Janis Boettinger is the coach of the team and is responsible for selecting the team members. She and student assistants train the team for competition. Animal Science Club:

The Animal Science Club provides interested students with opportunities to become exposed to animal agriculture through traveling to different operations across the country, judging livestock, holding annual club calf sale, and a steer jackpot. The club also provides its members with the chance to become better citizens through service and leadership opportunities and interaction with each other and members of the animal industry. The Animal Science Club is one of the largest and most active clubs on campus and is open to all majors. PreVet Club:

The USU Pre-Vet Club is a club designed for students interested in veterinary medicine. We hold monthly activities and meetings to help in the vet school application process, getting to know students in the major, and presentations of the vet schools.  The Pre-Vet club also hopes to increase student’s exposure to different facets of veterinary medicine.  For further information contact Dr. Rusty Stott, (435) 797-7197, rstott@cc.usu.edu.

 

Rodeo Club:

The Rodeo Club promotes academic success as well as athletic competition and success. We have activities each month, put on a large rodeo once a year, and encourage most members to compete in the rodeos.  For further information contact Jeff Hall, (435)797-0238, jhall@cc.usu.edu

 

USU Sheep Club:

This club is to help students learn more about the sheep industry.  Improve the relationship of the university undergraduate students with the sheep and wool industries.  Assist with placement in internships and career opportunities.  For further information contact Lyle McNeal, (435) 797-2150, sheepman@cc.usu.edu or Tami Spackman, (435) 797-2150, tami.spackman@usu.edu.

 

Equestrian Club:

The Utah State University Intercollegiate Equestrian Team competes regionally in Western Horsemanship, Reining, and English hunter both on the flat and over fences against Universities in Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming as a member of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSAinc.com).  Students do not need to own a horse or any equipment, or have extensive previous riding experience!  Team members compete from walk trot divisions through Open competition on horses provided by the Universities hosting the shows and are awarded horses to compete on during a draw previous to each class.  If you want to represent Utah State University, have a desire to travel and improve your horsemanship abilities, please contact the team coach, Rebecca Lewis, at (435) 752-1251, Rebecca.Lewis@usu.edu or email Dr. Patricia Evans at pat.evans@usu.edu.

 

Dietetics Club:

The Dietetics Club provides an opportunity for anyone interested in dietetics to meet other students and advisors, learn about jobs and internships, and participate in fun nutrition-related activities. Food Science Club:

The Food Science Club is the student chapter of the national, professional Institute of Food Technologists. The purpose of the Food Science Club is to assist students' professional development by enhancing knowledge, participating in leadership roles, and meeting professionals in the field. Agribusiness Club:

Aggie FACS:

This club is open to all Family and Consumer Sciences Education majors. It is affiliated with the state (UAFCS) and national (AAFCS) organizations, providing students with the opportunity to participate in professional meetings, network with practicing professionals, and exchange ideas with other FACS students throughout Utah. Phi Upsilon Omicron:

Phi U recognizes and rewards academic excellence. This organization is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and identifies individuals with proven or potential professional and community service.  This organization gives opportunities to build professional leadership, supplies a structure for building competence skills in management and leadership, provides networking with established professionals, and allows for mentoring by alumni.  There are scholarships available at the national and chapter levels.  For further information, please contact Teresa Bodrero at 797-1548 or email at teresa.bodrero@usu.edu.

 

HOHA (Helping Others Help Animals):

Helping Others Help Animals (HOHA) is a club designed to help educate the public on animal issues and do service for already existing programs.  We are not associated with PETA.  We help raise money for sanctuaries and organizations designed to help animals, we do volunteer work for these organizations and have guest speakers who can shed light on current animal issues such as animal abuse leading to domestic abuse, animal nutrition and pet therapy.  We also have fun activities such as BBQ's, movie nights, visiting animal sanctuaries and themed activities for the month.  Our mission statement explains what we stand for: We, the members of HOHA, strive to improve the treatment and attitudes toward animals through education and aiding existing programs and organizations. Collegiate Young Farmers and Ranchers:

Sponsored by the Utah Farm Bureau Federation, the Collegiate Young Farmers and Ranchers is open to college students of all areas of study who are interested in agriculture.  We offer meetings with guest speakers and social opportunities, leadership development and educational conferences, local, state and national competitive events and an introduction to involvement in local, state and national Farm Bureau programs.  For further information contact Brett Evans, (435) 797-2167 or brettevans@pcu.net.
